Official Bodelicious.net statement about the latest controversies
Recently, there have been allegations, posted at Skiracing.com that our website, who has been supporting Bode Miller for 6 years now, does not have his back. That, I quote ''even the devoted creators of Bodelicious.net seem to have turned on Miller". First of all, this is a forum open to discussions. Therefore, people will post here. They will post hateful, Bode-bashing stuff, because apparently, Bode is the sole reason a certain medal-grabbing nation is 2nd behind Germany. Might I add, we love the USST and most of the Americans. But not all of them. Lately, Bode has received more hate mails, hate articles and hate posts than anyone in recent sport history. And somehow, the word got out WE stopped supporting him. WE are not a group of ''teenage girls''. WE do not have a crush on Bode and hang on every word he says or live for the air he breaths. WE (as in the administrators and regular posters, around for years) are here to try to tone down the haters, the bashers and try to shed some light on this whole controversy. If you want to read our thoughts, go read the forum, and not just copy-paste a post from a first time poster. The point is WE are not let down by Bode by any means. He has stayed true to himself and we support him for all the reasons we started to care in the first place - because he is one of the great skiers of our times. He underperformed at these Olympics, but they were just 2 weeks of his amazing career. The medals don't reflect much. But if you want hard, concrete evidence anyway, there it is - he IS the 2005 overall winner. He has more than enough big-race medals and he doesn't need any more confirmation. He is the 1st American in 20 years to win the overall, and for all you ''suddenly discovered ski fans'' - can you at least name 5 skiers (American skiers would be too much to ask) who have 20 career wins and over 40 podiums?
We stand behind him, and we actually care more about his skiing than what his favorite drink is or how many playmates he has been photographed with. You might find that hard to believe, but it takes more than one average (if you call someone who is ranked 3rd in a world average) season for a fan-site to stop supporting a ski prodigy such as Bode is. Much more.
